# Adding external assessments to CareerPlug
Available with a CareerPlug [Hire](https://adpsupport.careerplug.com/benefits-of-your-careerplug-hire-subscription?hsLang=en) or [Grow](https://adpsupport.careerplug.com/benefits-of-a-careerplug-grow-subscription?hsLang=en) subscription.
While CareerPlug offers pre-built personality assessments, there may be additional external assessments you want to add to the Assessment step in your hiring process.
1\. Navigate to **Settings (gear icon)\> Hiring Tools \> Hiring Process**.

2\. Click the **Edit** button next to the hiring process to which you want to add the assessment.

3\. Click the **pencil icon** to edit the Assessment step.
4\. Scroll down to the "Add External Link" area and click the **Add Another Link** button.
5\. Enter a **Link name**. This is the name that will appear for the hyperlink in the hiring process.
6\. Paste the link to the assessment in the **Enter link here** field.
7\. Save your changes to the Assessment step by clicking the **Save Changes** button.
8\. Click the **Save and Exit** button in the top right corner of the page to update your hiring process.
This will add the additional external assessment to the Assessment step of your hiring process.
Unlike scores on CareerPlug's Math/Verbal and Personality Assessment, scores on this external assessment will not be imported to CareerPlug. You will need to sign into the external assessment to view the results.
If you would like to use only your external assessment, then de-select the Personality and Math/Verbal Aptitude assessments in the "Select Hiring Tools" area of your Assessment step (when editing your hiring process). Also ensure that these assessments are de-selected on each job that you post.
If you would like to use both your external assessment and our Personality and/or Math/Verbal Aptitude assessments, ensure the latter assessments are enabled in the "Select Hiring Tools" area when editing your Assessment hiring process step. In addition, select the applicable CareerPlug assessments on each job you post.
When you click **Invite** on the Assessment step to invite an applicant to take assessment(s), they get an emailed link that directs them to a page with a list of the assessments that are available on the hiring process step and selected on the job to which they applied. If you use an external assessment only, the applicant will be directed there. If you use the CareerPlug assessments as well as your own external assessment, the applicant will be directed to complete all of the applicable assessments.
