# Job statuses
When you post a job, you must set its posting status to control where applicants can find it. Use the status tabs on your **Jobs** page to view your jobs according to their status.

| **Job Status** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |
| **Active** | - Your job will be immediately posted on your careers page and sent to external job boards. - It may take up to 24 hours to appear on job boards. |
| **Closed** | - Closed jobs are not posted on your careers page or any job boards. - You can still access any applicants who applied before you closed the job, and you can still use this job's data in your reporting. |
| **Draft** | - Your job will not be posted on your careers page or on any job boards. - Use a Draft status if you want to create a job but don't want to post it anywhere just yet. |
| **Passive** | - Your job will only be posted on your careers page. - A passive job will appear on your careers page as a "Future Opening." - In CareerPlug, you can find your job on the Passive tab of your Jobs page. - The only way to "pause" a job posting. - [Changing a job from active to passive](https://adpsupport.careerplug.com/removing-or-closing-a-job-posting?hsLang=en#pause) will temporarily slow applicant flow so you have the time to evaluate your current applicants before accepting any more. |
If you want to post your job at a later date, select **Draft** as the posting status and then choose the date in the future when you want the job to go live. You can also set **Passive** jobs to post at a later date.
By default, new jobs are set to **Active** and may take up to 24 business hours to appear on job boards.
