Removing or closing a job posting

When you've filled a position and need to end your hiring process, you should close the job posting. Closing a job will remove it from job boards and your careers page.

In this article:

9. Choose a rejection reason from the Select rejection reason drop-down menu. The rejection reason is for internal use only and will not be seen by applicants.

10. To send a rejection letter to your applicants — which we strongly recommend — turn on the Send rejection letter toggle.

  • Choose a rejection letter template from the Select template drop-down menu.
  • To schedule your rejection message for a different time, turn on the Schedule to send later toggle and specify the Send Date, Time, and Timezone for your scheduled message.

Another way to close a job

You can also close a job whenever you hire a new applicant.

While completing the hire form for a new employee, click the Close Job button and follow the same steps as above to remove your job posting.

Leaving positions open once they've been filled may lead to decreased job visibility on job boards.

Can I pause a job posting?

There is no way to pause a job posting in CareerPlug. However, if you need to temporarily slow applicant flow to a job so you have the time to evaluate your current applicants before accepting any more, we recommend setting your job's status to passive. A passive job posting is only advertised on your careers page as a future opening.

To make your job posting passive:

1. Navigate to your Jobs page.

2. Click the Edit button to the right of the job you want to make passive.

4. Select Careers Pages Only as the job post status.
