What to do before posting your first job

Before you post your first job in CareerPlug, we strongly recommend you complete the following steps:

Recommendation Why does it matter and how do I do it?
Close any
existing jobs
posted

outside of CareerPlug
  • Some job boards require employers to use a single, consistent source for sending their jobs. When you post jobs through CareerPlug, it becomes your single-source.
  • If you have any active job postings outside of CareerPlug — either directly on job boards like Indeed or through another ATS — you need to close them before posting jobs in CareerPlug.
  • If you previously posted jobs for your company through another ATS, ensure those postings are closed, too.
  • Closing old postings helps prevent visibility issues due to violating job board policies.
Set up your
careers page
Add Locations
and set up Operating Areas where you want
to post your jobs
  • To comply with job boards' policies, it's essential that every job posted through CareerPlug is posted to the most specific and accurate location possible.
  • If your business operates from a fixed physical location (e.g., restaurant, retail store, office, warehouse) where both your employees report to work and your customers visit, you should use Locations.
  • If your business operates across a territory and your employees travel to meet and service your customers (e.g., cleaning service, landscaping, pest control), you should use Operating Areas.
  • Edit your Locations and Operating Areas by navigating to Settings (gear icon) > My Organization > Locations.
Add teammates
to your account
and set their
access level
  • Add as many teammates to your account as you have employees. There is no additional cost to get your whole team in CareerPlug.
  • Set up your hiring managers as Admin users to help you manage your employees and applicants as a team.
  • Full and Limited Access users must be associated with at least one location in order to take any action in their account, and they must be associated with a location to view any of its jobs or applicants.
  • Click the + Create New button on your Dashboard, then select Edit Careers Page from the drop-down menu.
Set up your
calendar to use CareerPlug's automated interview scheduling tool
  • With just one easy step, you can set up Autopilot* and use it to cut your interview scheduling time by up to 91% and get up to 8x more interviews scheduled!
  • Set your availability on your built-in calendar or connect an external calendar account to CareerPlug.
  • Once you start posting jobs, let Autopilot do the heavy lifting for scheduling interviews with applicants so you can get back to managing your business.
  • In the Getting Started widget on your Dashboard, click the down arrow icon next to Set up your calendar. Click the Set Up Calendar button.
Get familiar with your hiring process
and hiring tools — and make any changes
  • Your hiring process provides consistent structure to help you efficiently manage your applicants, soothe hiring headaches, avoid common recruiting pitfalls, and — most importantly — confidently hire the right people.
  • Your CareerPlug account includes a prebuilt hiring process, but you can — and should — edit your hiring process to meet your needs.
    • Navigate to Settings > Hiring Tools > Hiring Process, then click the Edit button next to your default hiring process.
  • Familiarize yourself with the interview scorecards*, assessments,* email and text message templates*, and other hiring tools included in your CareerPlug account.
