If one of your jobs is not receiving any applicants and you're worried about its visibility on job boards, don't panic and, more importantly, don't search for your job on job boards.
Job boards tailor search results to the specific job seeker, which means your job isn't guaranteed to show up in every search. For instance, you may not be able to find your job on Indeed because it's been collapsed in search results (due to having the same title and location as another job from your business) or you previously searched for it but didn't click it, causing the search algorithm to assume the posting was irrelevant and stop showing it you.
To confirm whether your job posting is visible, try the following strategies instead of searching for it:
- Wait at least 24 business hours after posting your job. This gives most job boards enough time to receive, review, and add your CareerPlug job to their organic job feed.
- Monitor applicant activity for your job using the clicks/applicants chart. This is the best way to confirm that applicants are seeing your job on job boards. Only Admin users can access reporting in CareerPlug.
- Ensure the language in your job posting follows our job board best practices. Using certain characters, words, or phrases — or having duplicate postings — can cause job boards to exclude your job from organic visibility.
- Ensure that you’ve communicated to the job board in question that CareerPlug should be your source for job postings. This is typically only necessary if you've had a previous employer account with the job board or used another ATS to post jobs prior to CareerPlug.
- Contact CareerPlug Support to get help with your job posting. Schedule a 20-minute video call with a Hiring Expert, create a support request online, or email the Hiring Expert team at support@careerplug.com.
To see which sources produce the most applicants for your jobs, you can use the Source filter on your Applicants page (for active applicants) or the Source Analysis charts on your Account Insights page (for all applicants, including those you've hired).
Don't be alarmed if most of your applicants come from Indeed since it's the most popular job board in the U.S. To expand your applicant pool, we recommend using custom sources to share your jobs with local job boards. Custom sources allow you to recruit and track applicants from sources besides our partner job boards where CareerPlug already sends your job.
If you've posted your job and want to ensure it appears higher in a job board's search results, try sponsoring your job. You can easily sponsor your jobs on Indeed and ZipRecruiter from CareerPlug.
